The Problem: My frizzy white girl afro.

Like many of you with curly or wavy hair, I suffer from funky frizz syndrome. Living in muggy Washington, DC only exacerbates this condition as can be seen in the photo above, taken yesterday after walking my dogs.

The Solution: Garnier Fructis.

These two products are miracle workers, plus they are very affordable and available at any drugstore. To get a frizz-free look, I let my hair air dry for about 10-15 minutes, then I use a generous amount of Garnier Fructis Style Curl Construct Mousse. It is extra strong hold for weightless curls which means it wont weigh your hair down or give you that crunchy overworked look.

Once my hair is almost dry, I spray on a little Garnier Fructis Style Curl Shaping Spray Gel. This is a strong hold curl defining gel that will make your hair crunchy if you use too much.ร‚ย  Be sure to spray a good 6 inches away from your head and go for a couple overall sweeps of your hair as opposed to single sprays close up.

If I find that my hair is getting frizzy during the day, which tends to happen on days like yesterday when the humidity was at 90% (!!), then I just touch up with a little Spray Gel.

The Result: Cute controlled curls.

This picture was take moments after the first one and all I used was a little bit of Spray Gel. Moral of the story โ€“ keep the Spray Gel with you at all times! ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all, donโ€™t I rock an epic afro? hehe. Second, what do you do to control your frizz?

ps- If you like my top, I got it at Forever21.

  1. Totally afro-tastic!

I have terrible wavy, crazy hair, but I hate the testure of a lot of hairsprays. I might have to try your mousse and gel combo.

  2. I also use those products to tame my curls. What I have found as an additive while I am out and about it Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon. It’s $5-$6 for a 4 oz bottle but a little dab goes a long way. Just a little swipe over frizz and it seems to melt away. PERFECT! And I live in South east Texas (south of Houston, just inland of the Gulf of Mexico) and the humidity is 97% or more on a daily basis. This seems to work the best. Best of luck!
