Hardcore Nail Addict

That’s the tagline for Fing’rs, who sent me a box full of goodies to play with last week. With my nail biting finally under control, I was eager to try out these awesome stick-on nails!

Here is my “before” picture. Though I stopped biting my nails, they aren’t completely grown out yet.

I decided to test out these black tipped frenchies.

Since I’m not used to having long nails, I tried the short term stick on adhesive as opposed to the glue, which lasts for up to 10 days. The adhesive was surprisingly simple to apply. Once I placed the tabs on my nails, I easily pealed off the backing before applying the nails.

And after about 2 minutes, I had a fancy schmancy french manicure!

There were tons of different sizes in the package, so I was able to select the ones that fit seamlessly into my nail plate.

These babies stayed on all day and came off only after I soaked my hands in warm water for about 10 minutes. Best of all, they didn’t cause any damage to my real nails so I can continue to grow them out.

I definitely recommend Fing’rs for girls who like to have fun and fancy nail designs. You can change them around as often as you like and at about $6 a package, they are way cheaper than going to a nail salon!

I’m in love with the manicure trends this fall. Too bad I have a nail biting problem, so I can’t try any of these.

And it’s supposed to be pretty simple. InStyle has some straight forward instructions.

STEP 1 Lacquer nails with two coats of gunmetal (at left: CND Enamel in Hyde in the Dark). Allow at least five minutes for the polish to dry.

STEP 2 Sweep nail adhesive (at left: Kami Nail Foil adhesive) over the polish. It will change from white to clear matte when dry.

STEP 3 Place a strip of gold foil—shiny side facing down—(at left: Kami Metallic gold and silver foil) over your nail, tap three to four times with your fingertip to deposit the pigment, then peel off. Repeat with the silver foil.

This mod mani is cute too.

Bad Habits

We all have them. They are what make you you. But perhaps you could do without one or two of them. As for me, I’m a nail biter. I’ve been biting my nails since I had teeth. I managed to stop for the last couple years, but recently I’ve had a major relapse.

Gross, right? Nothing fashionable about that. Plus it is bad for your teeth and bad for your health- sticking your fingers in your mouth makes you more likely to get sick.

So, it is time to stop. Easier said than done.

If you’ve had your bad habit as long as me, you do it without even thinking about it. So my solution was to use a physical and visible tool to help me stop, and I came up with this:

I made it out of some beads I found in my room. With this bracelet as a constant reminder on my wrist, I will see it as I start to nibble and be reminded to stop.

And this could work for anything. Say you want to eat healthier. As you reach for that soda, you’ll see the bracelet and be reminded to drink water instead.
