Georgetown Cupcake

I went to DC Fashion week’s big international show this weekend (pics coming soon!) and the Georgetown Cupcake (aka DC Cupcakes) crew, TLC cameras and all, were there with some creative and yummy treats.

(I’m super bummed because I would have inserted a video that I took with my camera right here, but I can’t figure out how to edit it! This is why I prefer the Flip…)

Here are some of my favorite outfits from DC Fashion Week. As I’ve mentioned before, the lighting was terrible so the pictures didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. In the spirit of optimism, we’ll call them artistic, not blurry.

DC Fashion Week’s International Couture Show obviously had some international flair, and it was fabulous. I particularly loved Nayna Fashion House‘s collection of chic bollywood-ish designs. Unfortunately the lighting in the venue was horrible, so the pictures aren’t that great.

I thought she blended eastern and western fashions into chic wearable dresses.

You should definitely check out the pictures on her facebook page because there were some wonderful dresses that just didn’t photograph well due to the dark venue.

Here is a video I took of Natalia Sanz‘s gorgeous collection from DC Fashion Week. Natalia was definitely one of my favorites. Her clothes were chic and sophisticated, making them perfect for semi-formal or formal dances. Look for the blue and black number about 2 minutes in…it’s my fave!

Always Right in White

I had so much fun at DC Fashion Week’s International Couture Show and took way too many pictures for one post, so here is the first bunch!

The first collection was all in white. Who made up that silly “no white after Labor Day” rule anyway?

The style was boho rocker chic with short hemlines and fierce heels.

And a touch of elegance here and there.

But elegant doesn’t have to mean old-fashioned. Pair a sophisticated dress with some chic gladiator heels and you are young, fun, and good to go.

I’m absolutely in love with this preppy Gossip Girl inspired look. Is it not the cutest?

And at the other end of the fashion spectrum, I loved this t-shirt dress. How easy would it be to make this? All you have to do is cut holes in the shoulders and sleeves!

And, because fashion isn’t only about dresses, here are some sharp white pants. You’d have to be pretty brave to wear these in my opinion. I’m way too klutzy and would spill something on them before I even left the house!
