A little about myself. Age 16. Junior at the number one selective enrollment school in the state. I love playing the nanny, writing and bonding with my friends.  I’m also an environmentally friendly person. That said, I love to recycle my clothes. Whether it means turning my tee into a fashionable dolman shirt or donating to charities in my area, I like to reuse and spread the love of La Mode.  I am also big on journalism and have taken part in a number of newspapers. Currently, I work for the Chicago Tribune on TheMash, an innovative, teen oriented paper and for my high school newspaper. My journalist instincts pretty much come before everything else.

I don’t have a lot of time to keep track of shows, but I am currently keeping an eye on The Vampire Diaries and 90210, both airing on the CW. On my free time, I keep up with beauty gurus on YouTube, such as Kandee Johnson. Expect to see blogs on her later, I’m quite the fan.  As a junior, I’m preparing for the ACTs and between the Sociology books and the AP Lang notes, I like fantasize about my senior project.  My school’s curriculum allows us to complete a senior project over the course of the year to expand our horizons. My project is putting together a fashion show with original clothing items. Hopefully as soon as I get that approved by a counselor, you Mafiettes will be hearing more about it.

I’ll be known as Vintage Rose.  Yeah, I love vintage things, collecting silk scarves, and darling little purses, why? Well I love finding things that no one else has, things that are special and unique, and make me who I am.

Although, what I really love is quality clothes for a quality price, and of course creating my own fashion and style. I also enjoy collecting little vintage things and making them into my own special creation, such as creating a handbag out of a skirt.  (Don’t you worry, I’ll make a post about how to do it!)

As you know, this is a community fashion site made up of high school students Pretty in Pink, The It Girl, Art Decadence, and fashion experts Miss Mascara, The Tux Guy, and myself.

I’m looking to add some new voices with different styles and opinions from all over the world.  So, if you want first hand experience in the glamorous world of fashion blogging and can write about two posts per week, fill out the application and send it to me!

Seeing as I’m the newest Prom Mafia blogger, I feel I should show me at my prom! (With my date, then the back of my dress) I was so in love with my dress I kept ‘trying it on’ in the weeks before prom – just as an excuse to wear it.

‘Raindrops on roses and whiskers on–’ oh, sorry, I’ll continue onto my favourite things, shall I?

Music, as previously mentioned, is a slight obsession of mine. As relaxing as silence can be, I can always be found talking or listening to music (or both!). It could be any of:

David Bowie, T.Rex, Queen, Colbie Caillat, Teddy Geiger, Ashley Tisdale, The Click Five, Holly Brook, Vanessa Hudgens, Hey Monday, The Veronicas, Kate Voegele, 3OH!3, Status Quo, Lou Reed/The Velvet Underground, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Pete Yorn… and many more – my music taste is incredibly varied (from Timbaland to Trivium) so you’d have to ask to be sure.

Films are in my life less so than music, but I’ve still seen my fair share! My favourite actor is Gary Oldman (with David Bowie being a close runner-up) and I’m slowly but surely collecting all of his films. His ability to adapt himself to any role (though he does tend to get the psychotic ones) is amazing and he’s just so down to earth. (Not to mention he’s damn attractive!) My favourites are:

Labyrinth, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Prestige, Leon, The Rocker, Dracula, The Devil Wears Prada, Pirates of the Carribbean and every single Disney Classic (bar Bambi.) Again, I’ve seen all sorts of films (though I have to say I do like a good Chick Flick more than anything else!) so we might still have something in common.

Books are harder for me to talk about, as a lot of the time I have a very narrow focus – I have 30 Dean Koontz books! However, I’m trying to branch out. I find that books have to be exceptional for me to like them; if I find even one plot hole I start getting fed up with the wad of paper in my hands.

Now this might sound odd, but I don’t have a favourite artist. My favourite style of art is probably photography, because there’s just so much you can do with it! (Not that you can’t with other art, of course, but it’s different.) My favourite photographer I think is Mick Rock, as he spent a lot of time with Bowie and took some sensational photos of many of my favourite bands. Personally, as an artist, I spend most of my time in 3 areas: photography, vectors and pencil-work.

Hi there, I’m Pretty In Pink – but feel free to call me Pip for short. I’m an aspiring author and seeker of the unknown. I love photography, music and fashion. I do school by correspondence, and it’s a lot more fun than you might think – though I miss out on things like formals (that’s what we call prom here in Australia). I’m planning on convincing my friends to let me come along to theirs. I love heels, dresses and brightly-coloured stockings, but I also love dressing down in jeans and a t-shirt. I prefer to stand out of the crowd, and I only buy into trends which suit me.

One of the interesting things I’ve done recently: I shaved my head last year as part of The World’s Greatest Shave, to raise money to help doctors find a cure for leukemia. My hair grew back a lot slower than I thought it would, thicker than ever, and a very dark brown. I currently look like a cross between 1983 era Jamie Lee Curtis and the middle Jonas brother.

I don’t watch much TV, but I love TV series on DVD; The X-Files, Dead Like Me and Arrested Development. I’m also a big fan of NCIS – Abby is awesome.

Music: You’ll probably find me listening to indie-rock, punk-rock, pop-rock, alternative or folk music, but I’m really open-minded when it comes to music, and I enjoy all genres. My favourite bands are The Killers, Matchbox Twenty, Faker, Army Navy, The Beatles, Kinks and musicians Sufjan Stevens, Ben Lee, Ben Folds, Jack Johnson and so many more. My favourite song changes on a weekly basis; currently it’s ‘Yellow Submarine’ by The Beatles.

Food: Kids party food – fairy bread, party pies, sausage rolls and pink lemonade.

A few more random snippets: My peak thinking time is around 3AM. I eat too much bread. If my life were a movie, it would be a French art house film. My favourite features are probably my hands and my eyes. I have a love-hate relationship with zombies.
