I know all the big sites always do a fashion forecast of what is going to be big in the upcoming season, but who needs someone telling your what you’re supposed to want! Here’s what I want to wear this fall:

1. Corduroy Boyfriend Pants

Corduroy always reminds me of fall. It’s nice and warm for the crisp fall weather and the different colors and cuts add some variety to a predictable denim wardrobe.

So Over Skinny Jeans

I never had the toothpick legs to pull off the skinny jean trend, so maybe I’m just bitter. Regardless, I am happy this trend is on its way out. Over in France, normal looking baggy pants are making a comeback (as opposed to harem pants or those stretch cotton yoga pants). Finally!

A little known fact about me- I looooove cartoons. (I’m actually writing an enormous paper on cartoons for one of my classes this semester!) We don’t usually think of them as fashion icons, but they are a great source of style inspiration.

Marge has a unique and eclectic style. She’s always in a bold green dress, classic red necklace, and practical red flats. It’s hard not to look like a Christmas ornament in green and red, but this outfit from ModCloth pulls it off.

Sparkle in Sequins

A trend that always seems to be around, whether in the background or strutting and striking a pose on some of the hottest celebs, is sequins. As pointed out in this WhoWhatWear post, sequins have definitely been around for a long time – but we can see why we just can’t bear to let them go.

Of course, who doesn’t like to sparkle and shine – to catch everybody’s eye and live in the limelight? Sequins and glitter add that twinkle that can make anybody feel like somebody. And it’s simple too – the easiest way to glam up an old outfit is to add a touch of glitz. (Even if we are now taking a huge step forward from just outerwear!)

Over a plain tee or unpatterned top, this waistcoat could really add shine to your evening:

So what do you all think, too much sparkle or just right? Personally, I don’t think I’d ever have the confidence to wear those hotpants! But, I do like the blazer and waistcoat.

80s Done Right

Outrageous 80s fashions are obviously back, but before you slip on your leggings, here are a couple tips I came up with on how to look fabulous and not ridiculous.

1. Mix prints with solids.

2. With multiple pieces, mix tight with baggy.

3. When wearing leggings, cover your butt.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Leggings are not pants!

4. Go modern.

Just because it’s an 80s piece doesn’t mean you have to go all retro. Mix it up with some modern stuff. I paired this tight dress with some ripped jeans and a comfy sweater. What do you think?

Lindsay Lohan’s Fashion Debut

As you may have heard, Lindsay Lohan is the new Artistic Advisor for Emanuel Ungaro and she unveiled her first “advisement” over the weekend at Paris Fashion Week.

True to her usual style, the line was colorful and bold with a modern 80’s feel. Women’s Wear Daily panned it as cheesy and outdated, but I liked it, especially the dresses. (The ruched pants, not so much.)

This dress is my favorite. I would definitely wear this to a fancy night out.

Setting aside all of Lindsay’s personal issues, what do you think of her first collection?
