Were is the law that all girls must wear slutty costumes on Halloween? I don’t know about you, but they are not my style. If that’s your thing, good for you, but I’d rather be warm and and comfortable on Halloween!

It is easy to see why I’m obsessed with this black homecoming dress by Jovani. It’s just perfect. The style and details are different than most other dresses and it has such a sweet, feminine feel to it. My only alteration - wear it with fuchsia shoes.

Two Timer Skirt

I had a hole in my wardrobe: no everyday black skirt. I do have a fancy shmancy black skirt, but it’s not something you wear in the daytime. So, I busted out my Bernina and got to work.

I needed something casual that I could pair with a tee. To complete the look, I added my Target belt and Steve Madden heels.

I wanted something other than a plain skirt so I added some ruffled tulle to the bottom and a tulip wrap that is removable.

This way, I get two looks in one!

I’m also playing around with some shirt designs. What do you think of this one? I don’t think I’ve got it quite right yet.

Dark Summery Dresses

Okay so, as I was musing about what to make my next post about, a friend was complaining that she only really wears darker clothes and that it’s hard to find nice, summery clothes that aren’t white/bright. So here’s a little compilation of the dresses I came up with. (Let me tell you, it’s a lot harder to find than you think!)

I suppose I’ll start off with plain black – it’s probably the least summery you can go? You can still get some really nice style dresses though, such as this one from ASOS:

But maybe you want something with a splash of colour – just so you don’t completely overheat in the sun!

You could try this Egyptian-print dress (which also comes in a different style):

Or maybe this one (if it isn’t too bright for you all, anyway!):

So personally, I think that it is possibly to be summery in darker colours! (Although, if we’re being honest, I’d take a sunshine yellow dress over these any day!)
