Happy Accident
November 22nd, 2009 | Posted by Queen BeeWhile cleaning my apartment this week, I accidentally got a little bleach along the neckline of my tank top. Bummer, right?
Wrong! I thought it actually looked interesting, or rather that it had the potential to look interesting, so I decided to bleach the whole top! Since splattering seemed to work out fine, I figured I’d splatter it all.
First I put on some crummy clothes that I wouldn’t mind messing up. Then I laid the tank down on an old towel. Since I’m an expert, I only use the best materials: an old sock and all purpose cleaner with bleach.
I unscrewed the sprayer and shook the long straw over the top. I didn’t spray it because I was afraid of getting big globs on the top.
Then I flipped over the top and repeated the process.
This looked alright, but it seemed to be missing something…..stars! So I made some star stencils out of a piece of plastic I found laying around the apartment.
Then I put an old magazine inside the tank top and placed the stencil on the fabric.
I sprayed bleach onto my old sock and used it to dab the fabric in the stencils.
I was careful not to over dab so the stars wouldn’t bleed.
I liked it so much that I carried the stars to the front.
What do you think?
Will you try to bleach any of your clothes? If you do, send in a pic and I’ll post it!

That’s really cute!
Really cute!
Very cool! I’ve been tempted to bleach a shirt/jeans for a while now. Perhaps I will experiment over thanksgiving break, seems like a prime time to create something funky while avoiding academics
I love how your shirt came out.
