  6. Kimberly says:

My biggest cheap style tip is to buy trendy clothes that you’ll only wear for a season at some place like forever 21, where they are cheap. Invest more on basics that you’ll have forever and accessories that can be worn with everything. Also, shop from the back of the store forward. They hide the good sales in the back.

I think buying layering pieces is a great way to save money. Not only can you mix and match, but it’s a completely different outfit.

I buy cheap shoes–especially sandals. They will be worn out by the end of summer but by next summer there will be new trends so it doesn’t matter!

  11. chastidy says:

Look for coupons and sales before going shopping :)

  12. Mishia says:

If at all possible use coupons and catch sales. The best way I know is to learn how to sew and make your own stuff!

  14. Ali says:

My tip is to follow your budget! Figure out how much you have, and then you’ll buy something you really love/need with your money, and not just buy things on impulse.

  15. MarionG says:

Hi. My best tip is to shop all the final final sales. I get shoes at under $30. By volunteering at a church clothing store I get over 80 percent of my clothes for free for me and my family. That’s the biggest help.

  17. christopher h says:

ebay! i buy a lot of clothes there. prices are thrift store comperable, but you can search for just your size rather than going through racks and racks

  18. Benita G. says:

Shopping on line let’s you compare prices. Also you get really good ideas and sales. You can also get closeouts, discontinued styles, one of a kinds, etc. These are great.

  19. Dominique says:

One thing that I have learned is to be picky while shopping. Whatever the trendy look may be, it’s not always for you. You’ll feel better about yourself when you only buy thing you genuinely like, and you’ll save money you otherwise would have wasted buying into trends.

  20. Tim Hughes says:

My wife and her friends get together once a month and have a swap party. They all bring a few of their gently worn outfits, a bottle of wine or margueritas, get bubbly, exchange outfits and have a great time.

  21. Kate says:

Thrift stores and clearance sales always add some style for those of us with a budget.

  22. Chrysa says:

My best tip would be to add only items that you can wear with at least 3 items already in your wardrobe, and to spend only small amounts on trends, generally accessories are the most cost effective method to update a look quickly and inexpensively.
